We don’t drink hot chocolate too often but there are two times a year that we definitely do: The first snowfall of the year, and around Christmas time when we watch Polar Express. Polar Express is now my 7 year old’s favorite movie. Not sure if it’s because of the movie, or the hot chocolate. 🙂
This is just
the recipe off of the Hershey’s Cocoa box.

We sometimes
use with homemade marshmallows or with Elyon (corn syrup) or Dandie’s (soy) marshmallows from Whole Foods or
the health food store. The homemade marshmallows
melt quickly but my kids don’t mind. We use organic cocoa now. It tastes much better than the Hershey’s.

This is a perfectly perfect recipe for hot chocolate. I will certainly try your marshmallow recipe.
Just found your website searching for info on the Feingold Diet and saw this on your FB page. Was really surprised to see a brand who isn’t really considered natural recommended in this recipe. Especially since Consumer Labs found high levels of cadmium in their cocoa powder. http://www.prevention.com/food/healthy-eating-tips/cocoa-concerns-toxic-metal-found-popular-cocoa-powders
Hi Alison. We actually use an organic cocoa powder from Whole Foods now instead of Hershey’s but I still use the recipe from the Hershey’s box. The Hershey’s is considered acceptable on the Feingold Diet b/c it is without dyes, artificial flavors, or preservatives. It doesn’t make it all natural or the best option, just free of the Big 3. Thanks for the link!
