Puppy Chow – Feingold Stage 1

9 cups of Crispix cereal

1 cup of chocolate chips (Ghiradelli or Enjoy Life for dairy free)

½ cup of peanut butter (JIF, Skippy, or Whole Foods brand)

¼ cup of butter (Land O’Lakes, organic, or Earth’s Balance Soy Free)

1 tsp pure vanilla (watch out for corn syrup if you want to avoid corn syrup)

1 to 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar

Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a saucepan until smooth. Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla. Pour over 9 cups of cereal and mix well. Cool slightly. If you don’t wait long enough, the powdered sugar will dissolve right into the chocolate. My kids usually can’t wait that long.

Pour into a large zip lock bag with 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar (or just stir in the bowl). Shake or stir until well coated. I usually only use 1 cup of powdered sugar.

For GFCF, use Earth Balance soy free butter and Enjoy Life chocolate chips. For the cereal, we use Rice Crunch ‘Ems by Health Valley.

  1. The All Natural Mom herself brought some of this to me and my husband after we had our baby. It's a great sweet thing to bring to new parents because you can just eat right out of the ziploc bag when you want sweets! I finally made some today. I let it cool down too much I think because I got busy making lasagna but it's still pretty yummy.
